In today’s global work environment, managers widely understand that “people problems” such as low trust, dysfunctional culture, poor accountability and other leadership deficits are the root cause of the problems that inhibit change and restrain organizational performance. Another challenge routinely articulated by managers is that change efforts often only lead to a temporary increase in effectiveness, followed by a quick return to the status quo. Owing to these challenges, managers sometimes become skeptical that long term change is even possible, and argue that it’s not worth the investment. Fortunately, evidence shows that sustained organizational change is not only possible, but is accomplished often with the application of principles and techniques derived from the organizational sciences.
Purdue University’s Change Management course is designed to create lasting change at the individual, team and organizational levels. Taught in an executive style format, it is intended for working managers with emphasis on knowledge application and experiential learning. This new course will be held in the Krannert Center for Executive Education and Research on August 28-29, 2023.
