For ease of review, please include the essay question as a 'title' above your response.
- Statement of Purpose (500 words max): Please submit a statement introducing yourself to the Admissions Committee. Be sure to include a brief academic and professional background, reason for seeking a Master’s degree at Purdue, desired career path after graduation and your thoughts on giving back as a student and as an alumnus.
To be eligible for admission to this remarkable program, the following are required:
- At least 24 months of work experience
- The equivalent of a U.S. four year bachelor's degree
- A minimum GPA of 3.00
- Two online recommendations are required in order for your application to be reviewed.
- No paper recommendations will be accepted. We prefer that recommenders be employers who are able to render an opinion on the basis of close, current, and sustained observation. We strongly urge that one recommendation is from your direct supervisor. Recommendations from friends, family members, acquaintances, and other sources unable to evaluate professional or academic qualifications for profession study are not acceptable. No more than two recommendations are needed.
- You will need to provide official transcripts and/or academic records only at the request of the graduate program or in the event of a favorable admission decision and you choose to enroll. An official transcript bears the original signature of the registrar and/or the original seal of the issuing institution. Official documents should be submitted to:
Purdue University
Young Hall, Room 170
155 S. Grant St.
West Lafayette, IN 47907-2114
- Transcripts and/or English translations must be mailed directly from a Registrar’s office to the Office of Graduate Admissions via sealed envelope.
- The Office of Graduate Admissions also accepts electronic transcripts from accredited U.S. colleges and universities sent via eSCRIP-SAFE, Docufide, Parchment Exchange or directly from the accredited U.S. college and university. The transcript must be sent to GRADADM@purdue.edu.
- All transcripts and/or academic documents uploaded to the online application system are considered unofficial. The Purdue University Graduate School reserves the right to require official transcripts and/or academic documents at any time during the admissions process. **Transcripts will not be returned.
Uploading Transcripts (international applicants, see international section)
- All applicants must upload to the online application transcript(s) and/or academic document(s) for every institution of higher education attended. If a transcript and diploma/degree certificate
are not in English, an English translation (certified by the college or university which issued it) must be uploaded. - The uploaded transcript and/or academic document must be from the official version of the document. An official transcript bears the original signature of the registrar and/or the original seal of the issuing institution.
- If personal identifying information such as a student identification number or social security number appears on the document, REMOVE THIS INFORMATION from your electronic version of your document or mark out the information in black ink before scanning your document.
- Degree-Seeking Applicants: Upload a transcript for every institution of higher education attended, including evidence of a baccalaureate degree awarded, into the online application. If you are currently studying for a baccalaureate degree, you will later be required to submit a document that verifies the awarding of that degree.
- Non-Degree Applicants: If you are applying for non-degree classification, you must upload evidence of a baccalaureate degree which could include a transcript, a copy of the diploma or a degree certificate verifying the degree.
In the process of completing the Krannert School of Management graduate application, you will respond to 3 to 5 video essay questions. The questions vary for each program and are developed to assess core competencies that align with your specific program. The video essays are used by the Admissions Committee to identify business school competencies that we believe are key to building a diverse and strong cohort. You will be asked questions that will give us insight into your position on the following topics:
- Motivation
- Adaptability
- Engagement
- Leadership Potential
- Communication
- Self-Awareness
Please talk to your recruiter prior to submitting your essays if you would like some guidance on how to best prepare.
The Online MSBA is a rigorous program that requires quantitative aptitude. Admissions at Daniels Online Programs will look for evidence of this in your application via previous coursework, professional certifications or employment history. If you feel that you do not have sufficient evidence in any of these fields to demonstrate this aptitude, you may want to consider submitting a GMAT or GRE score to enhance your application.
*GMAT/GRE waivers
GMAT/GRE test score is only required for applicants with less than 3 years of professional work experience. If the applicant has 3 or more years of work experience, GMAT/GRE test scores will automatically be waived without having to apply for a waiver.
Applicants with less than 3 years of work experience may still be considered for GMAT waivers if they apply for a waiver. They must have US equivalent graduate degrees from an accredited university, 3.0 average undergraduate GPA, and/or demonstrated quantitative skills to be considered by the committee for a GMAT waiver.
In order to apply for a GMAT/GRE waiver, you must have successfully completed and submitted the entire application.
Once you have submitted your application with the above included, contact the graduate programs' office at krannertmasters@purdue.edu to receive a GMAT/GRE waiver form that you must complete and submit.
For those applicants who submit test scores, they must meet a minimum GMAT score of 500 (or equivalent GRE score) to be eligible.
We recommend applicants plan to take the GMAT at least two weeks prior to your application deadline. Official test score reports should be sent to the specific program you have applied at Purdue University and must be received by the deadline to which you are applying. Admission decisions are not finalized until official scores are received. (Visit www.mba.com for complete information regarding the test.)
The name of the program you are applying to is the 'code' required for reporting your GMAT score.
For the MSBA program, it is ‘MS in Business Analytics’
GRE scores must be reported to Purdue University, institution code: 1631.
Note: Please do not submit your application until test scores are provided. It is recommended that you submit only the scores you intend to have reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
International Applicants
Applications for the Krannert School of Management must be completed using Purdue’s Graduate School online application. International applicants must follow a slightly altered application process.
Any individual who is not a permanent resident or citizen of the United States is classified as an international applicant. If you are a Permanent Resident, non-U.S. Citizen, please upload a copy of your alien registration/green card within the online application. Permanent residents who do not provide a copy of an alien registration number will be reclassified as an international student for admission consideration and fees.
Review your current/previous academic institution’s country for a listing of required admission documents per Purdue University Graduate School Requirements.
Official Language Test Scores
- The Purdue University Graduate School has agreed to waive the English Language requirement so you do not need to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
Academic Transcripts and Applicant Eligibility
- Any individual who is not a permanent resident or citizen of the United States is classified as an international applicant. In order to be considered for admission to the Krannert School of Management, international applicants must hold a bachelor degree or its equivalent from an accredited college in the U.S. or abroad. This requires 16 years of education in a University setting, which must be the equivalent of a four-year U.S. Bachelor’s degree.
- Correspondence courses do not meet this requirement. Transcripts must indicate “grades earned” for all courses taken. Please note that a summary of semester totals alone does not meet this requirement.
- Documents stamped with ‘True Copy’ will not be accepted, which will potentially delay admission consideration.
- If you were educated outside the United States, and the native language of the country where you were educated is not English, you must upload both a certified official transcript in the original language of instruction and a certified official English translation.
*You must also upload a certified official copy of your diploma/degree certificate in the original language of instruction and a certified official English translation. A Provisional Certificate does not meet this requirement.
Supplementary Information for International Students
The Krannert School of Management does not require proof of financial capability until after a student has been admitted. We ask that you not include it when submitting your application. Upon an offer of admission, students will work with the Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) to demonstrate eligibility for a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019).
