The Center for Business Communication is your resource for case competitions hosted by the Daniels School of Business.
The Purdue HR Case Competition & Conference offers students the chance to showcase their HR expertise by competing in both graduate and undergraduate divisions. Teams of 4-5 students present innovative solutions to real-world HR challenges in front of business leaders from top HR organizations. Cash prizes are awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each division, as well as to the best individual speaker and Q&A responder. Additionally, the Daniels School's HRM program hosts the annual conference, giving students an excellent opportunity to engage with HR professionals and demonstrate strategic thinking.
Working in a team setting, this course provides real-life experience consulting with an organization to solve a real business problem. The focus is on human capital or human resource-related problems. Students work with a client to define the scope of their engagement, identify needs, conduct outside research (benchmark, market analysis), develop solutions, and identify key deliverables. The project culminates with an executive summary presentation with tangible recommendations to the client’s senior leadership. This experience prepares students to serve as an HR Business Partner (HRBP).
The Daniels School of Business' MSHRM program provides Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) CP Certification prep and reimbursement of exam fees. The SHRM CP Certification is the premier credential for HR professionals, recognized across all industries for setting individuals apart in the field. The competency-based certification focuses on key HR skills as outlined in the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge® (SHRM BASK®). With flexible online learning and both remote and in-person testing options, earning your SHRM Certification is accessible and convenient.
MSHRM students can also take advantage of activities outside of the HRM department. From study abroad opportunities to joining one of more than 1,000 clubs or attending events in the Daniels School and across campus, students are encouraged to engage with the Purdue graduate student population to gain a diverse perspective of business, culture, lifestyles, and more!
