LTC Roush enlisted in the United States Army as a military policeman. He served three years as an enlisted soldier and then enrolled in Ball State University ROTC and was commissioned a 2LT. LTC Roush served with the 1st Armor Training Brigade as a platoon leader, company executive officer, and Brigade S-4. He later entered the U.S. Army Reserves and served as Company Commander, B Co., 270th Infantry Regiment. He has served staff positions with the 300th Corps Support Battalion, 21st Theater Sustainment Command (Germany), 8th Army (Korea, 2nd ROK Army), and 88th Readiness Division, Fort Sheridan, IL. His deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom (1st Infantry Div) as a Safety and Force Protection Officer, and Afghanistan, ISAF (101st Airborne Div) in J-5 Future Plans.

In his civilian career LTC Colonel Roush served as a police officer with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the Lafayette Police Department in Lafayette, Indiana. His assignments included patrol operations, criminal investigations, training programs,  and SWAT. He served nine years as the Chief of Police before retiring and transitioning to Purdue University in 2012.

LTC Roush was Associate Director of Purdue's Weekend MBA program for nine years and Associate Director of programming for the school's master's programs before taking his current role as Director, Business Military Association.

LTC Roush holds a BS in Criminal Justice from Ball State University, an MS in Criminal Justice Management from Indiana State University, and an MS in Higher Education Administration from Purdue University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Infantry Advanced Course, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Command Officers Development Course, Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville, and the FBI Command Leadership Institute.

LTC Roush lives in Lafayette and has three children.
