Ayrielle is an experienced student affairs professional with a demonstrated history of working in the education industry. Her career spans over 15 years ranging in responsibilities: as an instructor to secondary education students in topics of culture, history, government, and foreign languages; to guest-lecturing undergraduates in heritage tourism; to an acting facilitator for international students to the greater campus community; to coaching graduate students through the policies and procedures from application to graduation. Today, you can find her in Krannert Hall supporting undergraduate students in the Daniels School of Business.

As an academic advisor, Ayrielle is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel valued and supported. She recognizes that students bring diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences to the advising process, and strives to understand and respect their individual perspectives.Additionally, she believes that the historical context of our institution plays a crucial role in shaping the experiences of our students. By embracing our institutional history and culture, we can create a sense of place that fosters innovation, creativity, and excellence.

My advising philosophy is grounded in the following principles:

  • Cultural Competency: I believe that cultural competency is essential to effective advising. By understanding and respecting the cultural identities and experiences of each student, I can better support their academic and personal goals. I am committed to ongoing training and professional development to improve my cultural competency skills.
  • Place Making: I believe that the historical context of our institution is an important factor in shaping the experiences of our students. By creating a sense of place that honors our institutional history and culture, we can foster a supportive and innovative environment that inspires students to excel.
  • Collaboration: I believe that academic advising is a collaborative process that involves the student, the advisor, and other campus resources. By working together, we can create a comprehensive academic plan that supports the student's goals and aspirations.
  • Empowerment: I believe that academic advising is an empowering process that helps students to realize their full potential. By providing guidance, resources, and support, I can help students to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

Academic advising is a collaborative and holistic process that recognizes the unique cultural and personal experiences of each student. By embracing these principles, Ayrielle is committed to providing high-quality advising services that support the academic and personal growth of each student.
