New PCEE Director Named
Friday, July 1, 2016
Dr. David Perkis joined the Purdue Center for Economic Education as Director on July 1st. Dave recently finished his PhD in natural resource and environmental economics at Purdue and is looking forward to working with teachers throughout our community to facilitate economic education in our schools.
Before economics, Dave's background was in engineering, mathematics, and statistics. Additionally, he pursued a teaching certification in mathematics education, having completed his student teaching at City Charter High School in downtown Pittsburgh.
Given his background, he has a passion for utilizing experimentation and discussion in the classroom, as well as taking advantage of synergies between economics and the STEM fields. Most importantly, with he and his wife both having experience in the classroom, he has a heart for helping teachers effectively teach economic and financial topics to their students.
Dr. Harlan Day, who has been serving as the PCEE's Interim Director, will continue to remain active with the Center as assistant director.
